Job summary

Novant Health's Regional Resource Team is seeking a Float Pool RN to provide safe, high-quality care across multiple Critical Care locations. You’ll support nursing teams during staffing needs and gain diverse clinical experience.

You will quickly integrate with new care teams, assess patients, administer medications, and collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure continuity of care. This role offers flexible shifts and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• ADN with 2+ years of nursing experience in Med/Surg/Tele/CCU.
• BSN preferred with expanded clinical opportunities.
• Current compact licensure in the appropriate state.
• 3-month training for ED/Behavioral Health per policy.
• Specialty certification within 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care across multiple units and patient populations.
• Step into assigned units each shift and integrate with new care teams to maintain safety and outcomes.
• Serve as interim clinical support during staffing gaps until permanent staff arrive.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, administer meds and treatments, respond to changes in condition.
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams for timely care.
• Model best practices and support new systems and workflows.
• Act as a trusted clinical resource and mentor to unit staff.

What You'll Do

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care across multiple units and patient populations, ensuring continuity of care where staffing needs are most urgent.

• Step into assigned units each shift and quickly integrate with new care teams to maintain patient safety, quality outcomes, and operational flow.

• Serve as interim clinical support during staffing gaps, helping stabilize units until permanent team members are hired.

• Perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and treatments, and respond to changes in patient condition in fast paced environments.

• Collaborate closely with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary partners to support timely, coordinated care.

• Model best practices, policies, and workflows while supporting adoption of systems and technology across units.

• Act as a trusted clinical resource and mentor to unit staff, sharing knowledge and reinforcing professional nursing standards.

• Support Novant Health’s mission by ensuring patients receive consistent, high-quality care—regardless of location or unit.

What We're Looking For

Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. ADN. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. BSN preferred.

Experience: 2 consecutive years within defined specialty (Med Surg, Tele, Critical Care, ED or Women's).

Licensure/Certification:

Current compact licensure in appropriate state, required.

NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.

Specialty Certification, preferred.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required):

• Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and computer literacy. Advanced training as required by department/unit/facility per identified skill set/sub category. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing. Has the ability to interpret information and identify each patient’s requirement for care relative to his/her age specific need. Has the knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age.
• Successfully complete the Cardiac dysrhythmia test or Cardiac dysrhythmia course within 3 months of hire. NIH Stroke Scale certification upon hire.

Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred):

• Specialty certification within two years of hire.
