Job summary
MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, MD is seeking a Critical Care APP (NP/PA) to join a 12-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, providing care for critically ill medical and surgical patients with a strong team and clinical autonomy.
The role offers a nocturnist schedule with collaborative ICU coverage, generous compensation, nocturnist adjuster, comprehensive benefits, CME leave and PSLF eligibility; current AGACNP/PA certification and BLS/ACLS required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Acute Care NP (AGACNP) or Physician Assistant program.
- Current AGACNP or NCCPA certification.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- At least 1 year of acute care APP experience.
Responsibilities
- Care for critically ill medical and surgical patients in a 12-bed ICU.
- Lead Code Blue responses and participate in Rapid Response Team activations.
- Collaborate with a team of 5 physicians and 5 APPs for ICU coverage.
- Perform procedures with a high degree of autonomy within a collaborative team.

Dedicated Nocturnists receive a generous adjustor with the flexibility to apply it toward either their base annual salary or annual clinical target.
- 12-bed mixed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- 574 annual ICU admissions
- 5,554 annual inpatient admissions
- Nocturnist
- Typical daily ICU census of 8-10 patients managed by a three-provider team
- Collaborative team of 5 physicians and 5 APPs supporting ICU coverage
- Care for critically ill medical and surgical patients

- Evaluate and manage unstable patients throughout the hospital who may require ICU-level care
