Job summary

Westchester Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Critical Care department. This leadership role oversees 24/7 patient care for a dedicated population, driving safe, high-quality outcomes and financial oversight including budget development and monitoring.

The Nurse Manager coordinates nursing services with other disciplines, mentors staff, and leads cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and patient satisfaction. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• RN with at least five years of full-time medical/surgical experience.
• At least 3 years in leadership or supervisory role.
• BSN required; MSN or Nursing Administration certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages all activities and operations of the department(s).
• Participates in overall department and program planning; initiates unit-specific programs to increase efficiencies.
• Participates in recruitment and retention of personnel; initiates recognition activities.
• Develops, mentors and motivates staff to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Ensures staffing ratios by scheduling appropriate personnel and addressing staffing issues.
• Oversees coordination of nursing services with other health care disciplines and improves interdisciplinary communication.
• Promotes staff professional development and continuing education.
• Serves on hospital committees and liaises with educational organizations for student orientation and precepting.
• Prepares department procedures; updates manuals and policies; implements new processes.
