Job summary

Piedmont Medical Care Corporation is seeking an experienced ICU advanced practice clinician to support care in the CVICU/ICU. The role emphasizes critical care management, procedures, and collaboration with physicians to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include direct clinical care for critically ill adults, order and interpret diagnostics, manage lines and airway support, and participate in education and quality initiatives within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based practice standards under physician supervision.
• Obtains patient histories and performs examinations, documenting findings per hospital requirements.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, explaining necessity and process to patients and family.
• Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures and documents results.
• Performs airway management and life support per ACLS standards under supervision.
• Inserts and manages arterial/cardiac/central lines and related devices per credentialing standards.
• Interfaces with monitoring equipment and educates others in its use.
• Develops and implements treatment plans for acute illness in coordination with physicians.
• Assesses status changes and initiates emergency interventions as needed to stabilize patients.
• Incorporates clinical research findings into care standards and supports IRB-approved trials.
• Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and research.
• Acts as a clinical educator to nursing staff, healthcare teams, and the community.
• Identifies educational needs of families and participates in teaching opportunities.
• Plans and evaluates nursing education programs for staff and teams.
