Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool. You will assess patients, develop and revise plans of care, and supervise non-licensed staff while ensuring care is delivered per orders.

Strong communication with the care team is essential. The role requires 2 years of ICU experience, a Texas RN license or Compact license (with 90 days to obtain Texas license), and BLS/ACLS as well as NIHSS certification and CATN/TNCC within 1 year.

Qualifications

• 2 years of nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from accredited Nursing program
• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 60 days of hire
• Course in Advanced Trauma Nursing (CATN) OR Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Certification within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessments at admission
• Create and revise care plans including discharge plans
• Document nursing interventions and patient responses
• Provide educational materials to patients and families
• Administer medications and complete treatments per hospital policy
• Perform venipuncture and IV care
• Review new physician orders and ensure execution
• Notify Charge Nurse/physician of status changes
• Provide accurate handoff reports to oncoming shift
