Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
• Minimum of 2 years combined experience in Critical Care and one other specialty (5 years preferred)
• RN License in the state of employment or compact
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS/NRP for CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Addresses complex psychosocial, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments, monitors for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers on learning needs and resources.
• Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care on the assigned unit.
• Ensures patient safety and participates in quality improvement activities.
