Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a competent Nurse for the Critical Care and similar clinical setting. The role involves independent practice, administering routine and complex care per patient treatment plans, and escalating contingencies as needed.

The nurse will perform nursing processes, address patient/family needs, administer medications, document history and care, and provide education. Requires CCU-level competencies, and a willingness to work 7PM–7AM Full Time shifts.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of combined experience in Critical Care and one other specialty (e.g. Med/surg, Telemetry, IMC or Emergency).
• BLS and ACLS required; RN License in the state of employment or a compact license; PALS and NRP required at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Addresses psychosocial, cultural and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication and care given.
• Educates patients, family members and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
