Job summary

Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton, Colorado, is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for its Critical Care Float Pool. RNs will float across critical care and designated acute care units, delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care to high-acuity patients while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

You will assess patients, plan care, monitor changes, and educate families, all within a fast-paced, patient-centered environment that values adaptability and clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
• Minimum one (1) year of RN experience in a critical care or acute care setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
• BSN is Required. Degree will be verified.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients across multiple units.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, utilizing critical thinking and advanced clinical judgment.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Manage complex patient needs, including advanced monitoring, specialized therapies, and critical care interventions.
• Document patient care accurately and ensure continuity of care across clinical settings.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge needs when appropriate.
• Adapt quickly to varying unit workflows, patient populations, and acuity levels.
• Support a culture of teamwork, mentorship, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
