This full-time role offers days or nights with a 10% float differential and requires an active Colorado RN license (or compact transfer within 60 days), a BSN, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state of practice; compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of start date.
  • Minimum one year of RN experience in a critical care or acute care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • BSN is Required; degree will be verified.
  • RN with <12 months experience must obtain BSN within four years of hire.

Responsibilities

About the Platte Valley Critical Care Float Pool RN Role

As a Critical Care Float Pool RN at Platte Valley Hospital, you'll play a vital role in supporting patient care and staffing needs across critical care and designated acute care settings. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients across multiple units.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, utilizing critical thinking and advanced clinical judgment.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Manage complex patient needs, including advanced monitoring, specialized therapies, and critical care interventions.
  • Document patient care accurately and ensure continuity of care across clinical settings.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge needs when appropriate.
  • Adapt quickly to varying unit workflows, patient populations, and acuity levels.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, mentorship, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • Minimum one (1) year of RN experience in a critical care or acute care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • BSN is Required. Degree will be verified.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Critical Care, ICU, Progressive Care, Emergency Department, or other acute care nursing experience.
  • Strong communication, adaptability, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience caring for diverse patient populations in fast-paced environments.

Note: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Full-Time Opportunities | Days or Nights Available (Part-Time and PRN Considered).
  • 10% Float Differential
  • Required to float to all units, not limited to Critical Care.

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. - and - Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. - and - Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. - and - Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. - and - Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). - and - May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
