Required Skills/Experience

Will take first-time travelers with strong ICU and previous float pool experience.Cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV medication titration.

Required Credentials

If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

Unit Details

Cares for COVID patients and neuro, trauma, medical, and surgical ICU populations, including sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, multi-system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients (radial approach), general surgery patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, and various back surgeries.CVICU cases include 24h post-op CABG (10/wk.), esophagectomy, TAVR (3/wk.), AAA repair, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and post-arrest patients.Travelers are not expected to care for fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post TPA, or device patients including ECMO, IABP, Impella, and hypothermia protocol.Patient ratios: ICU 1:2; PCU/ACC/CCU 1:4; ER Holding uses the same ratio based on the patient’s level of care.

Shift & Scheduling

Schedule is typically made for 3 weeks at a time and comes out 7-10 days prior.Every other weekend; could work back-to-back weekends (rare).No self-scheduling and no guarantee of a patterned schedule.

Floating Requirements

Float to Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU, CCU (cardiac step down), PCU/ACC, ED Holding, Med Surg units, and any open surge areas for those units.Traveler could float to Allenmore Hospital as needed, around 2.5 miles away. This is not common but is a possibility. Travelers should be notified in advance if they are needed at Allenmore.
