Job summary

UPMC Somerset is seeking a full-time Clinician to join the Critical Care Unit. This nurse leader role combines clinical expertise with staff development, performance feedback, and evidence-based practice to sustain a culture of excellence in patient care.

The Clinician will orient and train staff, conduct evaluations, participate in recruitment, and help coordinate clinical activities. The schedule is 40 hours weekly with a mix of shifts; BSN is required, MSN preferred, and salary is determined

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience for Clinician.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience for Clinician Fellow.
• BS/BSN required; Master’s degree preferred.
• If BS degree not in nursing, a Master’s or higher degree in Nursing is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical nursing practice and support staff development.
• Conduct staff evaluations and assist with hiring.
• Provide service-based education and orientation.
• Mentor student nurses and new preceptors.
• Promote patient safety and continuous quality improvement.
• Ensure effective staff communication and documentation.
