Job summary

Carver County is seeking dedicated Law Enforcement Crisis Responders/Therapists to join its collaborative, community-centered team. Under the direction of the Sheriff's Office with clinical supervision provided by the Behavioral Health Clinical Services Manager, the aim is to provide complex professional mental health services responsive to both public safety and mental health needs within Carver County.

This part-time position (10 hours/week) includes evenings and alternating weekend shifts;

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Mental Health Professional in Minnesota (LICSW, LPCC, LP, LMFT, or related license).
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, MFT or related area.
  • Two years of post-professional licensure experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to mental health crisis situations with law enforcement to provide mental health assessments and risk assessments.
  • Provides psychological evaluations including diagnosis, testing, interpretation, and recommendations.
  • Offers therapeutic intervention via face-to-face and telephonic interaction for crisis stabilization; completes follow-up treatment and documentation.
  • Performs crisis stabilization to ensure safety and continuity of care.
  • Prepares clinical documents, reports, intakes, treatment plans, progress notes, and related paperwork.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement and communities to educate on mental health issues and expands the co-responder program.
  • Provides liaison services with families and the court, including potential expert testimony.
  • Trains Sheriff’s Office staff on mental health topics.
  • Performs other duties of similar nature.

Education

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field
