Job summary

Metropolitan Family Services in Chicago, IL is seeking a Crisis Responder to join our Crisis Prevention Response Unit. This on-site role involves rapid crisis intervention, de-escalation, and coordination with public safety and community partners to support at-risk individuals.

Open availability for both shifts is required, 11:30 AM–7:30 PM and 7:00 PM–3:00 AM, with a pay rate of $27.18 per hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation experience required.
• Experience in community outreach, violence prevention, or related fields preferred.
• Bilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond rapidly to crisis situations to de-escalate.
• Mediate disputes to prevent escalation during gatherings and unrest.
• Coordinate with public safety and community partners to ensure interventions.
• Connect community members to supportive services (mental health care, housing, employment, social services).
• Provide follow-up after crises to support healing and reduce recurrence.
• Maintain documentation of incidents and referrals with confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
