UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh is seeking a Crisis Safety Specialist to join resolve Crisis Services, a 24/7 crisis program including a hotline, mobile crisis team, walk-in center, and youth services.

The role involves greeting customers, conducting safety checks, supporting the front desk and milieu, and helping develop safety management for walk-in and residential environments. You will work as part of a dedicated team to ensure a secure environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, patients, and visitors.
• Conduct safety searches on all entering the building.
• Assist in managing the front desk and support the milieu.
• Aid in developing and implementing safety management for walk-in and residential environments.
• Participate in staff meetings and committees.
• Report safety concerns immediately.
• Provide customer service.
• Handle disruptive individuals using de-escalation techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of mental health laws.
• Answer phones and direct calls.
• Complete reports and incident documentation.
• Orient new crisis staff.
• Enforce UPMC policies and maintain a secure environment.
• Manage evidence, valuables, and lost/found items.
• Respond to crisis situations as a team member.
