Job summary

South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Security Response Team Officer to contain crises and perform non-lethal force as needed. You will participate in contraband interdiction, searches, and youth supervision to support frontline officers.

The role requires a high school diploma, CLEE certification, physical fitness, and flexibility to work shifts. Training and supervision are provided within the DJJ framework.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a related bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.
• Ability to pass required CLEE certification and physical fitness tests.
• Knowledge of secure facilities and youth supervision practices.

Responsibilities

• Physically respond to emergencies to isolate and control disturbances.
• Assist in crisis intervention and manage disruptive youth behavior.
• Conduct routine searches and contraband interdiction within facilities.
• Prepare clear written reports and briefings for staff and supervisors.
• Provide supervision during transport and movement of youth as needed.
• Remain flexible with shifts and maintain policy compliance at all times.
