Job description

Position Summary

Respond to urgent and emergent situations with students and provide counseling and crisis intervention, including being available for a weekly 24-hour on-call rotation (some shifts include alternative work schedules with weekend coverage). Conduct clinical support sessions and risk assessments via phone, remote and in-person, assessing students' emotional wellbeing and psychiatric needs. Develop and implement appropriate responses including emergency services (EMS) and/or referrals to other appropriate medical and mental health care offices. Follow-up with students, their health care providers, families, and appropriate Student Health Center administration to monitor the progress of students' treatment and recovery.

Qualifications

Required Education:Master's Degree in Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-D), Psychology PhD, PsyD, or Master's degree in Nursing with specialization in mental health.Preferred Education:Master's Degree advanced training/research in suicide prevention and sexual assault cases.Required Experience:3+ years clinical experience in a psychiatric emergency room/CPEP setting, ACT Team, mobile crisis response, inpatient psychiatric unit, college/community mental health center; conducting risk assessments, managing acute psychiatric crisis, addressing trauma, diagnosing complex cases and assessing and documenting risk and treatment plans.Preferred Experience:3+ years experience working with diverse adolescent or college population managing treatment.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Crisis Referral Coordination. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment. Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations. Ability to participate in diagnostic decisions and treatment.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Crisis hotline experience and risk assessment via teletherapy.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $93,650.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
