Job summary

Pala Band Of Mission Indians seeks a Peer Support Specialist to provide peer-based recovery support during behavioral health crises. You will use lived experience and trauma-informed approaches to promote hope, resiliency, and engagement with services.

Collaborating with the Mobile Crisis Response Team and 988 Lifeline partners, you will help participants navigate tribal and community resources, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and tribal policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
• Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer mentoring, encouragement, and emotional support to individuals in behavioral health crises.
• Utilize lived experience to promote hope and self-advocacy.
• Assist participants in developing individualized recovery goals.
• Conduct follow-up contacts to encourage continued engagement in services.
• Connect participants to culturally responsive Tribal and community resources.
• Support warm handoffs between crisis teams and partners.
• Encourage engagement in treatment and community programs.
• Develop coping skills and independent living skills.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to support progress.
• Assist with outreach events and recovery-focused programming.
• Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality per HIPAA and tribal policies.
