Job summary

A Certified Peer Specialist role at A&C Adult and Child Health, Inc. is based in Indianapolis, IN within the Crisis Services department. This part-time position focuses on supporting individuals in recovery, utilizing lived experience to foster hope and build empowerment.

You will work with clients to create personalized plans, connect them to resources, and provide emotional support throughout their recovery journey. Emphasis is on collaboration and community integration.

Qualifications

• Must self-identify as a present or former client of mental health or substance use services.
• Requires one year of direct, personal experience with the mental health system as a primary consumer.
• Complete a state-approved Certified Peer Support training within six months of employment.
• Exceptions to qualifications may be made by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with individuals to develop personalized treatment plans addressing their needs.
• Maintain regular communication with referral sources and guardians to discuss progress and planning.
• Participate in meetings to ensure continuity of care for individuals.
• Assist in researching and referring individuals to outside resources as needed.
• Schedule appointments and provide transportation to Recovery Supports and community services.
• Accompany clients to appointments when permitted and represent the agency professionally.
• Support clients in accessing medical services and document services per state and federal standards.
• Offer crisis intervention and facilitate group education sessions as scheduled.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through required trainings.
