RWJBarnabas Health at NEW POINT CAMPUS in New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Associate to join the Emergency Screening team. This role provides vital clinical support, direct patient care, emotional assistance, and safety monitoring for individuals in acute mental health crises under nursing and physician supervision.

You will perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and therapeutic group activities, balancing technical tasks with compassionate care to maintain a safe healing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or active MHA certification required.
• Ability to obtain CPR certification within six months of hire.
• Strong communication to document data and report changes to medical staff.
• Resilience to maintain professionalism in high-stress crisis environments.

Responsibilities

• Direct Clinical Care: provide nursing support and monitor vitals as directed.
• Technical Medical Tasks: perform phlebotomy and run diagnostic EKGs.
• Therapeutic Milieu: lead activities and group sessions to support coping skills.
• Unit Safety: maintain a secure environment and assist with room/body searches as needed.
• Documentation: chart patient behavioral information and aid care plans.
• Admission/Visitation: assist with orientation and supervise family interactions.
• Stock & Mentorship: manage inventory and help orient new staff.
