Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with mental health or substance use challenges and in recovery.
• Current or past diagnosis of a mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder.
• Have received or are receiving treatment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• No disqualifying offenses as defined by state regulation.
• Has completed or is completing an approved Peer Support Specialist training per 908 KAR 2:220.
• Willing to share recovery experience to support others.

Responsibilities

• Monitor crisis line and ensure calls are answered quickly and professionally.
• Document calls and assess risk of suicide per protocol.
• Complete documentation for data tracking.
• Assess calls for additional services.
