Make a Meaningful Difference Every Day We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Crisis Line Clinician to join a dedicated Suicide Prevention team providing critical support to individuals experiencing mental health and emotional crises. In this role, you will respond to suicide prevention and 988 crisis calls, chats, and texts, providing clinical assessment, crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and connections to appropriate community resources. What You' ll Do
- Respond to 24-hour mental health and suicide prevention crisis calls, chats, and texts.
- Conduct clinical and suicide risk assessments using evidence-based protocols.
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and action planning.
- Identify high-risk and high-need callers and connect them with appropriate services.
- Coordinate warm referrals to resources such as mobile crisis teams, crisis stabilization units, mental health urgent care, outpatient counseling, VA services, and other community programs.
- Support individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, mental health symptoms, psychosis, substance use disorders, and co-occurring concerns.
- Provide follow-up calls and continued crisis support as clinically indicated.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing and brief intervention techniques to support individuals experiencing substance use concerns.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with HIPAA and organizational requirements.
- Consult with clinical leadership regarding complex situations and trauma-informed approaches.
- Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, training, and ongoing clinical supervision.
- Support individuals from diverse backgrounds, including underserved and low-income populations.
Qualifications Required
- Current registration in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an ACSW, AMFT, or APCC.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent active listening abilities.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to consistently follow crisis center policies, procedures, professional ethics, and suicide prevention standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations.
- Proficiency with computers and technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email, electronic health records, and multiple-line telephone systems.
- Valid driver' s license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete required crisis center training and pass the crisis line counselor examination within the first 21 days of employment.
Preferred
- Licensed providers and BBS registrants who have successfully completed the California Law and Ethics Exam.
- At least one year of experience with clinical assessments, treatment planning, and counseling involving suicide risk, chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, and/or trauma-informed care.
- Experience with brief clinical interventions, including Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TI-CBT).
- Fluency in an additional language.
