Job summary

Puyallup Tribe of Indians is seeking a Legal Victim Advocate in the Prosecutor’s Office. The role supports victims through prosecution, coordinating with tribal and state services, and providing emergency assistance.

Responsibilities include intake, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and potential testimony in Tribal Court. The advocate builds relationships across tribal departments and grants reporting, with a flexible schedule including after-hours availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum three years experience in Domestic Violence and/or Social Service fields.
  • Extensive knowledge in crisis intervention, counseling techniques, and safety assessment.
  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheets (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Complete intake and establish contact with victims; assess risk and safety.
  • Provide crisis intervention and accompany victims to courts, shelters, and medical facilities.
  • May testify as expert witness in Tribal Court; provide testimony on criminal/civil cases per need.
  • Present and facilitate trainings on DV, sexual abuse, elder abuse, and related issues.
  • Manage a diverse caseload and maintain case records securely.
  • May be available 24/7 by phone for crisis support.
  • Review reports; understand case files, laws, and Tribal Codes.
  • Attend trainings and conferences; collaborate with Tribal agencies.
  • Develop relationships with departments and vendors to add value for the Tribe.
  • Maintain data collection and quarterly/annual reporting for grantors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
