Job summary

Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks a Victim Advocate to provide specialized counseling and referrals for victims and witnesses, and to work with a team to inform and support them through the justice process.

The role includes consulting with attorneys on witness status, maintaining detailed records, offering community resource referrals, and educating the public about victims’ rights and court procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in justice administration, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Three years of experience interviewing and counseling clients involved in the justice system.
• Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to victims' and/or witnesses' rights and the criminal justice system.
• Ability to develop and maintain community resources and provide case management support.

Responsibilities

• Consult with deputies on witness status and court expectations; assist court with recommendations.
• Serve on a specific team to provide services to victims/witnesses and maintain detailed case notes.
• Provide victim counseling and refer to counseling and support resources; educate about procedures and rights.
• Review cases, provide feedback and support to colleagues on case methodologies and procedures.
