Job summary

The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) operates within the DuPage County Health Department to provide crisis evaluation and linkage services to residents in mental health or substance use crises. The CRC aims to help individuals stabilize, connect to resources, and access compassionate care in a welcoming setting.

We are hiring for full-time evening shifts to conduct crisis evaluations, manage crisis line responses (including 988), and support on-site units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with chronically mentally ill populations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community-based crisis evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Provide referral and community resource linkage, including CARES/SASS, law enforcement, hospital settings, and families/individuals
  • Assist with on-site responsibilities, including conduct­ing on-site crisis evaluations
  • Answering our Crisis line and 988
  • Assisting on the Mental Health Units within the Crisis Recovery Center
  • Completing client care tasks for the 12-bed Crisis Residential unit, as needed
  • Maintain required training, licensure, and certification
  • Collaborate with staff and community providers
  • Provide emergency and crisis intervention services in-person, via phone, or video

The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) is the critical next step in DuPage County Health Department’s decades-long journey to build the infrastructure needed to support a best-in-class behavioral health system and ensures all DuPage County residents will have “someone to contact, someone to respond, and a safe place to get help” when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The CRC will help residents de‑escalate, stabilize, and connect to community resources catered to their individual mental health and substance use treatment needs. The building design and operations will ensure individuals and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure throughout every step of their care. The CRC serves as an alternative to hospital emergency departments and simplifies access to crisis care for all individuals, families, and first responders.

Requirements:

  • Full‑time evening shift scheduled to work Monday to Friday, 2:00-10:00 pm
  • Requires a valid driver’s license along with your own personal vehicle that is reliable to drive while working in this role
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with chronically mentally ill populations
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
