Job summary

  • Driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required for on-call mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community-based crisis evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Provide referral and community resource linkage to CARES/SASS, law enforcement, hospital settings, and families/individuals.
  • Consult with staff concerning client and program issues and provide other case management services as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with community providers.
  • Complete required documentation within established timeframes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adhere to client privacy laws.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultures.
  • Maintain required training, licensure, and certification.
  • Adhere to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
  • Use an Electronic Client Record and other call management software.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment.
  • Participate in emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Provide emergency and crisis intervention services.

The Crisis Recovery Center

The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) is the critical next step in DuPage County Health Department’s decades-long journey to build the infrastructure needed to support a best-in-class behavioral health system and ensures all DuPage County residents will have “someone to contact, someone to respond, and a safe place to get help” when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The CRC will help residents de-escalate, stabilize, and connect to community resources catered to their individual mental health and substance use treatment needs. The building design and operations will ensure individuals and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure throughout every step of their care. The CRC serves as an alternative to hospital emergency departments and simplifies access to crisis care for all individuals, families, and first responders. Job Details

In this on-call position, you will be required to pick up at least three on-call shifts per month. Because this is an on-call Mobile Crisis Response role, you must have availability for overnight on-call shifts (weekends preferred) as well as weekend daytime and evening on-call shifts.

These shifts are call-out shifts, meaning you are only required to respond if you are dispatched to a mobile crisis event.

Compensation includes a flat hourly on-call rate plus a stipend for each mobile crisis event you respond to.

Bachelor’s degree candidates will be considered; the flat on-call rate for this position is as follows:

Bachelor’s degreed candidates: $24 an hour

Master’s degreed candidates: $28 an hour

As a Crisis Services Counselor on the MCR team, you will:
  • Conduct community-based crisis evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults

  • Maintain required training, licensure, and certification
  • Adhere to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

  • Demonstrate independent judgment
  • Participate in emergency response activities as assigned
  • Provide emergency and crisis intervention services

Candidates for consideration require either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology.

Social Work or related field and two years of experience working with chronically mentally ill population; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Attendance at our paid HR new-hire orientation from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm is required. This role requires you to have a valid driver’s license along with your own personal vehicle that is reliable to drive while working in this role.
