Integral Care in Travis County, Texas is hiring a Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) to support individuals with IDD and co-occurring mental health needs. The CIS provides assessments, skills training, and cross-system collaboration to prevent or manage crises.
This is a community-based, full-time role requiring a valid driver's license and work in various settings (homes, group homes, hospitals, shelters).
Job Summary: Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) is hiring a Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS). As a CIS, you will work closely on a small team to help people with co-occurring IDD and mental health needs prevent and manage crisis. CIS services are meant to last 90 days. You will serve clients who have either suspected or confirmed IDD. For clients with suspected IDD, you will assist them with the IDD eligibility process, which can include contacting schools and hospitals to find records. For clients with a confirmed IDD, you will provide skills training, complex case management, and intensive cross systems collaboration to help clients prevent or manage crisis. All CIS complete a variety of assessments including the CSSR to screen for suicide risk, and the Discovery Tool to understand the needs and strengths of your client.
Individuals served through CIS will have often IDD and co-occurring mental health needs such as severe mental illnesses, substance use disorders and/or chronic health conditions. They may have a spectrum of communication and cognitive abilities. CIS staff operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and cultivate a clinical skill set by forging therapeutic relationships with diverse community members. As a CIS, you will meet with clients in a variety of community settings including; their own homes, group homes, hospitals, jails, respite centers, and homeless shelters. CIS is largely community based and requires the use of a personal automobile.
As a CIS, you may provide all or some of the following: provide coping skills necessary to manage symptoms/crises, provide support/training to the system of support, or to obtain services such as school, medical care, medication, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, legal assistance, housing, mental health, IDD, and resources fulfilling any basic need. CIS are working under the supervision of an LPHA who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight. Additional job duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the program.
Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

$24.18 - $25.39 an hour based on education.
