Job summary

Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network seeks a Behavioral Health Technician for the Crisis Care Center. You will assist with admissions, monitor patients, respond to crises, and support de‑escalation to prevent restraints.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, two years of relevant experience, and a valid Michigan driver's license. A Food Handler’s certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of professional experience in behavioral technician or peer recovery duties.
• A valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record.
• Active and valid Food Handler’s Certification or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Conducts ongoing observation and reports significant changes.
• Responds quickly to critical situations requiring restraining interventions.
• Provides de-escalation and support to prevent physical restraints.
• Emergency response to maintain safety and security.
• No-Force-First recovery environment.
• Assists with food prep, serving and cleanup.
• Assists with shower and cleanup.
• Monitors internal cameras during shift.
• Environmental and safety checks on crisis units.
• Attends required unit leadership meetings.
• Performs room safety checks and keeps rooms clean.
• Completes required documentation.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
