Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and tries criminal cases; prepares indictments; conducts pre-trial conferences; negotiates with attorneys; diagnoses cases and determines best case strategies; conducts preliminary hearings; participates in case investigation, including crime scene investigation, interviewing witnesses and victims, and examining evidence; researches legal issues affecting cases; applies the law to facts of a criminal case; determines sentence desired; evaluates and prepares witnesses for trial; selects juries.
  • Presents and argues prepared cases in court as assigned.
  • Assists in coordinating and supervising the activities of the Solicitor’s Office and coordinating office resources in order to ensure the prosecution of cases in a proper, efficient and orderly manner.
  • Maintains files; compiles data for and prepares various reports and statistics as required by the Department, County and/or other agencies.
  • Position is on-call 24/7.
