The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law invites applications for a full-time Counsel in Washington, DC. The role emphasizes civil rights litigation, non-profit advocacy, and collaboration with private bar partners across the country.

Qualifications

• Experience as Civil Rights attorney or in public interest/public defense roles.
• Academic research in Civil rights, criminal justice, or related fields.
• Volunteer work in civil rights or criminal justice areas.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with litigation teams on complex cases nationwide.
• Litigate in federal/state courts, including appeals.
• Conduct legal research and draft briefs and memos.
• Engage in written discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Develop new cases via fact investigation and client outreach.
• Review legislation and regulations for advocacy impact.
• Represent the Committee in public speaking and coalition work.
