The Criminal Investigator is responsible for coordinating and completing complex investigations involving misconduct, criminal activity, and/or corruption by CBP employees and related entities, leading or supporting investigative activities under CBP OPR jurisdiction. For GS-12: 1 year of specialized experience in criminal investigations, including conducting investigations, drafting warrants, and preparing reports.
For GS-13: 1 year of experience in conducting investigations on misconduct, serving as case agent, and preparing legal documents like warrants and subpoenas.
Experience must be explicitly detailed in your resume to qualify.
This is a direct hire public notice. Category rating, veterans' preference, and traditional rating do not apply. You may need to obtain a Top Secret clearance, and there are age and veteran preference considerations. The position involves working beyond 40 hours, with extra pay (LEAP). Training includes the Criminal Investigator Training Program at FLETC or an approved equivalent. The position requires a medical exam, firearms qualification, polygraph, and drug testing. Residency requirements apply, and a probationary period of one year is standard for new federal employees.
