Job summary

City of Omaha is seeking a Crime Analysis unit analyst to compile crime statistics, analyze trends, and produce maps and reports to support prevention efforts. This non-sworn, open-competitive role integrates with the Police Department's analytical work to inform decision-making and strategy.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant Bachelor's degree and demonstrates GIS, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, statistics, GIS, public administration, crime analysis, computer science, or related field.
• One year of experience in statistical reporting, GIS/mapping, or analytic crime reporting in police administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Compile data and perform statistical analyses for internal/external customers.
• Create crime bulletins, maps, and charts to illustrate trends.
• Develop GIS-based crime maps and conduct spatial/temporal analysis.
• Maintain and update intelligence data files and analytical databases.
• Provide complex analytical support to assist in crime prevention and suppression.
