Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a District Crime Analyst to perform advanced analytical work on criminal investigations, utilizing GIS and data to forecast crime trends and support staffing decisions. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and several years of analytic experience in law enforcement or related fields.

You will prepare comprehensive reports, present findings to leadership, and collaborate with internal staff and external agencies to improve public safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with relevant field (criminal justice, criminology, statistics, public administration) and three years of progressive crime analysis experience.
  • Licenses: Valid driver license; Florida driver license within 30 days; must obtain FDLE/IACA/NCIC/FCIC certifications within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily focused and systematic studies of crime and disorder to assist in investigations and resource allocation.
  • Develop forecasts and predictive analyses on crime trends and patterns.
  • Prepare and distribute reports and briefings to police leadership and external agencies.
  • Use GIS and other tools to create/update police boundary maps and analyze data for strategic decisions.
