Apalachee Center, Inc. seeks a Master’s level CRF Counselor to oversee the intake process for involuntary and voluntary admissions and to guide law enforcement and community partners in completing necessary forms.

The role includes crisis intervention, clinical assessments, and coordinating admissions to appropriate facilities. You will engage families, complete preliminary assessments, and prepare documentation to ensure timely and compliant admissions, with a rotating overnight shift from

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, rehabilitation, or related human services field.
• 1 year of related work experience in a mental health-related field required. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• Must maintain current CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs thorough clinical assessments of clients entering the CRF, including psychiatric and substance history and lethality.
• Initiates contact with family/significant others for additional information as appropriate.
• Coordinates admission or transfer to the appropriate facility per agency procedures.
• Develops crisis management plans and refers clients to community resources when inpatient care is not indicated.
• Ensures signatures for consent to treatment and completes required paperwork for admissions.

Apalachee Center, Inc. provides comprehensive behavioral health services across 8 counties (Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla Counties).Apalachee Center, Inc. offers competitive benefits for our full-time positions to include health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, long term disability, paid time off, and more.Overview:The Master’s Level Central Receiving Facility (CRF) Counselor ensures that the receipt of the appropriate legal Baker Act/Marchman Act documents required for involuntary and voluntary admissions, and provides guidance and assistance to Law Enforcement and community providers in ensuring their correct completion. Counselors ensure that all preliminary assessments are completed quickly and efficiently. Counselors initiate contact with family and/or significant others for additional information, if appropriate. The Counselor initiates/coordinates the admission or transfer to TMBHC, CRMC, EPH, Detox or PATH.ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCompletes thorough clinical assessment of all clients entering the CRF, including their presenting problems, psychiatric and substance abuse history, medical issues, lethality, and overall mental status. Uses this information to formulate a clinical impression, provisional diagnosis, and treatment recommendations. Completes all necessary paperwork for initial entry into system. Ensures signatures for consent to treatment are obtained for all ACI admissions.Knowledge and experience using therapeutic techniques in order to provide brief, solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention to clients calling or entering the CRF needing such service.Coordinates referrals and transfers to the appropriate receiving facility per Agency procedures, including notification to families, Agency departments and outside agencies.Develops crisis management plans with clients that do not meet the criteria for inpatient services and ensures they are referred to community resources.Ensures excellent customer service, attending to questions and concerns immediately.Shift: 7:30pm-8:00am, rotating schedule.Education/Experience:Master’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, rehabilitation, special education, health education, health science, or a related human services field.One (1) year of related work experience in a mental health-related field required. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.Licensure or Certification:Must maintain current CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.
