Job description

Join us as a CREW Unit Stew! We are seeking two CREW Program Unit Lead Stewards: one female and one male. Together, you'll guide 16-year-old and 17-year-old CREW staff members through their first camp positions, helping them transition from the Camp Leadership Program (CLP) to active camp staff roles. Not everyone wants to be a cabin counselor, but they still want to be part of something bigger and support camps’ success. As the CREW Unit Stews, you'll oversee and support these new staff members, helping them set up and run all-camp activities, challenges, theme nights, and more. You'll be the mastermind behind all camp games, evening programs, themed skits, and epic events.

You'll handle program activity signups and program areas like a pro. Plus, you'll show everyone how to care for and store equipment properly, making sure everything is in tip-top shape. From setting up to cleaning up, you'll ensure every program and event runs smoothly. COMPENSATION AND AMENITIES:

  • Starting Pay: $400 per week, plus room & board
  • Additional pay for specialized certifications (e.g., Lifeguard, ropes, and more)
  • Housing is provided for the summer.
  • Camp shirts are provided.
  • Meals are provided when the dining hall is open.
  • All training certification costs and time are paid for.
  • Free laundry facilities and Wi-Fi are located in or near staff housing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Certifications: CPR, AED & First Aid.
  • Must complete Redwoods Online Training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience working with children, preferably in a resident camp setting.
  • Experience working with youth and supervising peers.
  • Strong desire to work with children in the outdoors.
  • Must be able to self-regulate your emotions in a fast-paced community environment.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse staff and camper population.
  • Enthusiastic, engaged, and professional personality.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and responsibilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and schedules.
  • Experience preferred in at least two or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, canoeing, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
  • Previous summer camp experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
