Position Description

Under the immediate direction of the Foreman, this position is responsible for the preparation and execution of striping for traffic control, installing signs, and applying parking lot seal coat. This role involves working on highway, surface street, or parking lot-based projects as part of a team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Follow company and state guidelines for effective, safe, well-managed work zones.
• Wear all required safety equipment.
• Cleaning and prepping asphalt before applying materials.
• Handle heavy striping equipment and hot thermoplastic striping materials safely.
• Follow directions given by the foreman.
• Communicate effectively and work well with a team.
• Travel as required.
• Dependable transportation to and from work is necessary.
• Maintain a clean driving record.
• Work overtime, days, and nights as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• No experience necessary for entry-level positions.
• Prior traffic control or road construction experience is preferred.
• Excellent attendance, dependable transportation, and a good work ethic required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must pass background and drug screening, and meet Federal DOT requirements.
• Awareness of occupational hazards related to roadway work.
• Ability to work as part of a team and perform tasks individually when required.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Desired Qualifications

Previous experience in highway construction is preferred.

Working Environment

Based in Norfolk, VA, with required travel. Exposure to outside weather, moving equipment, traffic, fumes, and airborne particles. Moderate to loud noise levels.
