Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida is seeking an Evening Crew Leader, Custodian to manage custodial staff and ensure safe, clean facilities across district schools.
Responsibilities include cleaning, minor maintenance, lawn tasks, supervising staff, reporting, and coordinating with district policies. Applicants should have at least two years of supervisory experience and strong English language skills; training and certifications encouraged.
Summary: The Crew Leader, Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment in all school district facilities.
Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in large scale housekeeping and yard maintenance knowledge, with one (1) year of related management or supervisory experience required.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: All new and current employees are highly encouraged to complete the Custodial Operations Career Advancement training program through Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills: Use Internal HCPS email system and HCPS district webpage as appropriate.
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, depth perception, color vision, tasting/smelling, near acuity, far acuity, and field of vision.
