Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Crew Foreman to supervise a highway maintenance crew in Barnwell County, overseeing ditching, shoulders, pipe, and asphalt work to keep state roads and bridges in good repair. You will assist the Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer by addressing public complaints, scheduling tasks, and producing daily and weekly reports.

A Class A CDL must be obtained within six months, with at least 3.5 years of related experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Three and a half years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must attain Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crew of highway maintenance workers on ditching, shoulder machining, pipe operations and asphalt work.
• Investigate complaints and schedule work; prepare daily/weekly reports.
• Maintain safe work zones and enforce safety equipment use; flagging operations as needed.
• Respond to snow/ice and other inclement weather; be on-call for emergencies.
