Job summary

CAEtech Inc. in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems and components for power products, including uninterruptible power supplies and related systems. The role focuses on large assemblies, sheet metal, plastic components and interconnects.

You will create 3D CAD models in Creo, generate drawings and BOMs, support testing and validation, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality and other teams to deliver robust designs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience supporting mechanical product development, including design, prototyping, testing and validation.
• Experience with large mechanical assemblies and sheet metal or plastic components.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, systems and assemblies using 3D CAD tools.
• Develop and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies and bills of materials.
• Design and support large mechanical assemblies, including sheet metal and plastic components.
• Support interconnect systems including wiring harnesses and bus bars.
• Conduct engineering analyses, simulations and testing to validate designs, performance and risk.
• Collaborate with product design, manufacturing, quality and other cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet requirements and specifications.
• Evaluate materials, components and suppliers based on performance, cost and reliability.
• Participate in design reviews and problem-solving activities to resolve design challenges and identify optimization opportunities.
• Support prototyping, testing and validation activities, including development of test fixtures and prototypes.
• Create and maintain design specifications, engineering drawings, test plans and technical reports.
• Work with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to support product development activities.
