Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a direct, full-time role.

You will design, modify, and layout facility piping systems, size pumps, valves, heaters, blowers, and pressure vessels, and create CREO 3D models and 2D drawings. Responsibilities include performing pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; supporting CFD/FEA analysis, pipe-stress checks, and safety reviews; preparing ROMs and technical evaluations; and assisting with field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• US citizenship required due to federal nature of work.
• Clearance ability and OSHA or safety coursework encouraged.
• Experience with piping, fluid systems, or process equipment in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and layout facility piping systems; size key components like pumps, valves, and vessels.
• Create CREO 3D models and 2D technical drawings; update and redline drawings.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA analyses.
• Conduct pipe-stress checks and safety reviews; participate in hazard analyses and QA.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations to support procurement.
