Job summary

The Designer at Leonardo DRS in Danbury, CT will create moderately complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic designs using CREO CAD within a Windchill PLM environment. The role involves compiling Bills of Materials, supporting prototype assembly, and delivering detailed drawings and specifications.

The position requires an Associate’s degree with 4+ years of related experience and CREO CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or its equivalent and 4+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Experience with CREO CAD

Responsibilities

• Create moderately complex mechanical, electrical, or electronic designs using CAD or manual drafting methods; prepare Bills of Materials and support prototype assembly.
• Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and Engineering Change Order documentation, ensuring compliance with quality and cost requirements.
• Support prototype testing, perform basic engineering calculations, evaluate fit and interference, and collaborate with engineers to resolve issues and update designs.
• Assist less-experienced drafters with work priorities, technical guidance, and accuracy reviews.
• Maintain CAD equipment per manufacturer guidelines, including preventive maintenance and repair coordination.
• Contribute to team objectives through cooperation and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Support the checking of other designs and supplier variance requests.
