Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Credit Underwriter to evaluate credit applications in a fast-paced, tech-enabled lending environment. You will review borrower information for completeness, apply policy, and document decisions for internal partners, with opportunities to grow into more advanced underwriting roles.

This hybrid role starts at $25/hour, with training and performance metrics guiding advancement; benefits include a hybrid work arrangement and a clear path into broader credit analysis

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred; entry-level with some exposure to financial or credit review processes.
• Familiar with credit bureaus and financial documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct credit and risk analysis for standard applications within set guidelines.
• Accurately document underwriting decisions and ensure loan file completeness.
• Communicate decisions clearly to internal partners.
• Participate in training and onboarding programs to build credit knowledge.
• Consistently meet or exceed performance and quality metrics.
• Communicate with internal teams to resolve application issues or missing documentation.
• Escalate complex or unclear cases.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• All other tasks and duties as assigned related to the position.
