Job summary

JOB SUMMARY

Credit Support staff are responsible for the analysis, structuring, underwriting and support in the overall origination of credit products. Credit complexity is moderate-to-high given the Corporate Banking unit’s focus on a broad group of leveraged companies (i.e.,non-investment grade), multi-country obligors and a broad spectrum of credit products. The workload entails completing approximately 30 credit proposals per year representing approximately USD 300 million in credit exposure, each documented in presentations of 40-50 pages.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Demonstrate an understanding of bank policies and procedures, particularly regarding credit risk management, including risk rating and risk adjusted return on capital modeling, while maintaining compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Review a significant number of sources to conduct analyses of and document corporate customer’s creditworthiness, ensuring that all credit proposals fairly assess the risks inherent in a proposed transaction to make well-supported recommendations. Sources include: SEC reports, Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, ClearPar, Markit, etc.

Develop and maintain strong understanding of models and methodologies used to value enterprises and assets in the context of leveraged finance, recapitalizations, M&A transactions, collateral recovery analyses and structured trade.

Maintain regular contact with and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a trust-based relationship with other credit team members and all other employees involved with Corporate Banking activities.

Present credit proposals for new or existing relationships to the corresponding Credit Committees.

Perform ongoing portfolio management activities to assess the portfolio credit quality. This includes participating, reviewing and assessing quarterly calls, S&P alerts, Google alerts, and the review of scheduled and unscheduled events reported by our clients to be able to identify changes in the credit profiles of borrowers in a timely basis.

Demonstrate strong working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, US GAAP, IFRS and Credit Rating Agency (S&P/Moody’s/Fitch) ratings methodologies & practices.

Contribute to the permanent enhancement of the credit analysis and approval process identifying and rolling out technological improvements / innovation.

Support the Credit Department to monitor the financial health, covenant compliance and other material events that may affect credit customers of the branch.

Responsible for ensuring credit transactions are correctly input into the bank’s database, to precisely reflect credit, transaction and client details.

Other Responsibilities

Assist in a variety of special projects when necessary, including strategic planning, legal and documentation reviews, etc.

Provide coverage and back-up support for other positions as requested. Designated back-up to trade specialist.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In the performance of their duties, all Bci - Miami Branch staff members are required to comply all state and federal regulatory and legal requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1979, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Bank Bribery Amendments Act. Additionally, all staff members must comply with in the Bci’s Personnel Manual and Code of Ethics and other policies of Bci which are either, currently in place or which may become effective during the staff member’s employment.

PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
Knowledge and experience:
Minimum 5 years of combined relevant credit experience, preferably in top tier national or global banks, managing the banking relationships of large and mid-sized corporations, with international presence and with varying degrees of complexity in their credit needs, business models or financial reporting.
Ability to review and understand multi-jurisdictional credit agreements and term sheets to assess credit conditions, obligors, guarantors, covenants, and other information relevant to the assessment in key markets (US, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru).
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, US GAAP and Credit Rating Agency (S&P/Moody’s/Fitch) ratings methodologies & practices, as well as Chilean banking regulatory requirements (risk rating, legal lending limits, etc.).
Speaking before groups of customers or employees. Presenting credit proposals involving complexity (Loan structures, financial risk, forecasting, market data, etc.)
Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently.

Computer & Software:

Ability to operate IBM compatible personal computers; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Office Apps, Artificial Intelligence and other software needed to perform the functions of the position.
  • Ability to operate Bloomberg Terminal, S&P Capital IQ and Moody’s. Functions used include Analysis, Research & Estimates, Comparative Analytics, Charting & reporting, Derivatives, Option Pricer, FX Commodity, FX Forward Calculator, etc.
Education :
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent.
Master’s Degrees in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent preferred.
