Job summary

Western Alliance Bancorporation is seeking a Credit Portfolio Analyst II to support the LFI-aligned risk, data ecosystem, and analytics workflows. The role emphasizes Python, SQL, data transformation logic, and API integrations across systems.

You will contribute to scalable, controlled processes within Credit Administration. Responsibilities include collaborating with IT and Business Data Governance, developing data load pipelines, dashboards, and monitoring KRIs/RCAs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Knowledge of general banking operations and financial products.
  • Familiar with regulatory and legal compliance obligations.
  • Experience writing test cases and documentation.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, logic).
  • Advanced Python for data analytics; Databricks & Fabric is a plus.
  • Advanced SQL (window functions, CTEs) and data structures.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and on-time delivery.
  • Experience navigating codebases in version control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support Credit Portfolio leadership by creating or using database objects and reporting tools.
  • Develop data transformations, load scripts, and test pipelines.
  • Build reporting dashboards and monitor KRIs, RCSA, and concentration limits.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Data Governance; work cross-functionally on projects.
  • Address data issues across multiple systems and automate where possible.

Credit Portfolio Analyst II

What you'll do:

The Credit Portfolio Analyst II works in Credit Administration and supports the institution's LFI aligned risk, credit, and data ecosystem by managing analytical workflows, enhancing system functionality, and contributing to scalable and controlled processes appropriate for a Category IV bank. This role places strong emphasis on Python, SQL for troubleshooting data issues, validating results, and understanding data transformation logic. This role also requires familiarity working with API's and integrated data sources to support analytics requests that span multiple systems and require data integration or automation. Critical to success in this position is the ability to display a high level of independent problem solving, prioritization, adaptability, on-time implementation and the ability to support diverse projects/problems.
  • Responsible for supporting the Credit Portfolio leadership in creating or using various database objects, reporting tools, or other Bank approved technology in the execution of regular duties and proposing improvements to processes, gains approval, documents and implements upgrades. Partner with IT and Business Data Governance as required.
  • Complete assigned projects, which may be individual or team projects and include acquiring new data sources, defining and documenting transformations required to load, writing load scripts and testing. Independently frame requirements for moderately complex data and business processes. Develop reporting dashboards, monitoring concentration limits, KRIs, RCSA or other projects.
  • Apply technical expertise and software knowledge to address complex projects and manage a pipeline of data, reporting, and process related projects, identifying and elevating road blocks and executing within designated time frames.
  • Participate in the development of relevant policies, procedures, methodologies and training and collaborate with Credit Administration group. Collaborate cross functionally on projects.

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar field
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in application testing skills to be able to create test cases and for documentation.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to create pivot tables, perform XLOOKUPs, use conditional logic, compare data, and banking applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced Python experience. Specifically relating to data analytics with a solid understanding of common data science libraries. Experience developing Python-based solutions in Databricks and Microsoft Fabric environments is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL experience with knowledge of advanced syntax (window functions, common table expressions, etc) and an understanding of data structures.
  • Intermediate ability to independently problem solve, adapt to changing priorities, act with a sense of urgency, on-time delivery and support diverse projects.
  • Experience navigating and searching codebases in version control systems to support data troubleshooting and data quality validation.
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
