Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 7+ years commercial lending or equipment finance experience
  • Strong cash flow analysis and multi-entity experience
  • Experience with credit policy and risk management
  • Proven people-management and coaching ability
  • Experience with CRM, lending/workflow platforms; FIS/nCino preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Credit department's day-to-day operations and performance.
  • Develop and coach the Credit Team Leader and Analysts.
  • Enforce SLAs and turnaround-time expectations.
  • Oversee underwriting quality and credit presentations to MLC.
  • Review complex commercial real estate and equipment transactions.
  • Approve credits within policy limits.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and policy adherence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve credit issues.
  • Prepare reports and monitor performance metrics.
  • Support audits and examinations as required.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.

Purpose/Objective

The Credit Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Credit function, including oversight of credit underwriting, team performance, workflow, credit quality and timely transaction completion. This role provides technical guidance on complex commercial real estate and equipment finance transactions, including global cash flow, and ensures adherence to established credit policies, procedures and approval requirements.

The Credit Manager is also responsible for team development, performance management and enforcement of departmental service level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround-time expectations. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Credit to support alignment with credit policy, underwriting standards and overall credit risk management.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations and overall performance of the Credit department.
  • Manage and develop the Credit Team Leader, Assistant Credit Managers, Senior Credit Analysts, and Credit Analysts, including coaching, performance management and professional development.
  • Manage employee relations, performance reviews, corrective action, hiring, staffing and other personnel matters.
  • Establish, monitor and enforce departmental SLAs and turnaround-time expectations, including oversight of workload, capacity, backlog and transaction prioritization.
  • Oversee the quality, accuracy and consistency of credit underwriting, analysis and credit presentations to MLC.
  • Review and provide guidance on complex commercial real estate and equipment finance transactions, including global cash flow analysis, and other transactions requiring elevated credit judgment.
  • Exercise delegated credit approval authority within established limits and in accordance with Credit Policy.
  • Ensure adherence to Credit Policy, internal procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Director of Credit on credit policy, underwriting standards, credit quality and risk considerations.
  • Develop and enhance Credit policies, procedures and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency and quality.
  • Oversee Credit department reporting and metrics to identify performance trends, capacity concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead Credit team meetings and provide direction on credit quality, workflow, priorities and team development.
  • Partner with appropriate internal stakeholders to resolve credit-related issues and facilitate timely credit decisions.
  • Oversee Credit file quality, audit readiness and support internal and external audits and examinations as required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial lending, equipment finance or comparable credit experience
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting and evaluating complex commercial credit transactions
  • Strong experience with global cash flow analysis, multi-entity relationships and financial statement analysis
  • Demonstrated credit approval and sound decision-making experience
  • Prior people-management experience with demonstrated ability to coach, develop and hold employees accountable
  • Experience managing workflow, service levels, turnaround times and departmental performanceExperience with CRM, lending and workflow platforms; FIS and nCino experience preferred
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of commercial credit principles, underwriting practices and credit risk
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
