Job summary

Beacon Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to analyze and underwrite credit requests for Bank prospects and customers. You will work with lending officers to maintain and monitor loans within the portfolio and ensure compliance with policy.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of commercial credit experience, plus strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, and Access. Based in Springfield, MA or Glastonbury, CT with on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of PC applications including Excel, Word and Access
  • Familiar with bank credit policy and underwriting standards

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite credit requests using applications, spreads, financial statements, and other sources.
  • Determine compliance with bank policy and note any exceptions.
  • Discuss deal structure, cash flow, collateral, and customer character with Relationship Managers.
  • Join RM on customer calls and interact with customers in person or by phone as directed.
  • Coordinate with CPAs, CFOs, and other financial professionals to assist in underwriting memos.
  • Present written analysis and observe lender presentations.
  • Conduct market surveys through brokers and online research.
  • Manage portfolio and prepare annual reviews of relationship obligations.
  • Maintain tracking database with updated information.

Grade: 9E

Pay Range: $52,000-$90,498

Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.

Location: Springfield, MA - 19 Harrison Ave or Glastonbury, CT - 7 Sycamore St

Purpose/Objective

To analyze and underwrite credit requests for Bank prospects and customers and to maintain and monitor loans within the portfolio under the supervision of lending officers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Analyze and underwrite credit requests in a timely fashion by using some or all of the following resources: applications, spreads, financial statements, tax returns, credit bureaus, meetings with customers/prospects, appraisals, web research and other resources as necessary.
  • Determine if request is in compliance with Bank policy and note any exceptions.
  • Discuss deal structure, cash flow, collateral, and customer character with Relationship Managers (RM).
  • Accompany RM on customer calls and interact with customers in person and over the phone as directed by lender.
  • Interact with financial professionals including CPA’s, CFO’s, etc. as needed to assist in the underwriting of credit memos.
  • Present written analysis and observe presentations by lenders.
  • Conducts market surveys through contact with brokers, online research, etc.
  • Manage existing portfolio of customers by tracking and preparing annual reviews of relationship obligations.
  • Maintain tracking database with updated information as needed.
  • Identify potential problem loans and deficiencies.
  • Assist customers when needed with questions regarding loans and retail products.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Experience
  • Minimum of (2) two years of commercial credit experience
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of PC applications, including Excel, Word and Access
  • Be well versed in the Bank’s credit policy and underwriting standards
  • Be familiar with and fulfill compliance requirements
