Job summary

AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) and Frontier Farm Credit offer a 12-week summer internship designed for students pursuing degrees in ag business and related fields. Interns gain exposure to underwriting concepts, credit analysis, and loan administration while working with seasoned professionals at multiple offices, including in Omaha, Nebraska.

The program emphasizes learning, teamwork, and real-world lending experience within a cooperative framework

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science or similar.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
• Desire to gain further understanding of ag finance, lending and credit.
• Available for a 12-week internship during summer.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to credit philosophies for short, intermediate and long-term financing.
• Learn underwriting resources and techniques for loans.
• Input financial information and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows.
• Attend team meetings and participate in special projects with leaders.
• Spend time in retail offices to learn loan administration and closing processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to our credit philosophies for short, intermediate and long-term financing.
• Learn resources and techniques for underwriting loans.
• Make decisions on new and existing operating, term and real estate loan applications.
• Input customer financial information and analyze balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
• Research industry information.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
• Complete special projects assigned by the leader, if applicable.
• Spend time in our retail offices to learn about the loan administration and closing processes.
• Spend time with Financial Officers to learn about the sales processes and potentially meet with customers.
• Attend class(es) facilitated by our Organizational Development and Learning teams, if appropriate.
• Promote Farm Credit Services of America through various public activities (this could include volunteer activities, farm shows, external learning opportunities, etc).

Education Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelors or master’s degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science or similar degree
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong desire to gain further understanding of the ag finance, lending and credit business
• Available for a 12-week internship during summer
