Job summary

Byline Bank in Chicago seeks a Credit Analyst I to prepare client credit files and assist with loan approvals. You will run credit reports, analyze financial statements, and support the underwriting process across commercial lending teams.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance and 2+ years of credit experience, with strong analytical and communication skills. This position offers hybrid work and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 2+ years of credit experience, ideally in a public company with at least 1,000 employees.
  • 2+ years of credit analyst experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Runs Credit Bureaus, Paynet and Lexis Nexis and OFAC reports.
  • Provides timely communications & decisions making to sales reps/teams.
  • Helps perform commercial credit analysis by reviewing items including credit reports, financial statements and tax returns, appraisals, property inspections and environmental reports to complete loan presentations for approval consideration by the appropriate approval authority.
  • Analyzes spreads of a company’s financial statements to determine credit strengths and weaknesses (debt-service, current assets, leverage, cash flow, fixed charge coverage, acid test).
  • Updates credit on existing files.
  • Prepares vendor files for review by manager.
  • Assists other departments with their duties.
  • Provides office support including data entry, calls, and filing.
  • Assists with final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.

Objective of Position

The Credit Analyst I prepares prospective and current client credit files for review and approval upon receipt of a credit request/application.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Runs Credit Bureaus, Paynet and Lexis Nexis and OFAC reports.
  • Provides timely communications & decisions making to sales reps/teams.
  • Helps perform commercial credit analysis by reviewing items including, but not limited to credit reports, personal and business financial statements and tax returns, appraisals, property inspections and environmental reports to complete loan presentations for approval consideration by the appropriate approval authority.
  • Helps prepare and analyzes spreads of a company’s financial statements to determine overall credit strengths and weakness of potential commercial credit customers. Analysis includes, but is not limited to debt-service ratio, current assets ratio, leverage ratios, cash flow analysis, fixed charge coverage and acid test ratio.
  • Updates credit on existing files.
  • Prepares vendor files for review by manager.
  • Assists other departments with their duties.
  • Provides additional office support, including data entry, answering incoming calls, and filing.
  • Assists with the preparation of the final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 2+ years of credit experience, ideally in a public company with at least 1,000 employees.
  • 2+ years of credit analyst experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
  • Have strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to identify, understand and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects and implement high quality solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and analytical skills with the ability to directly manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities depending on organizational needs and strategies.
  • Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Physical Demands/Work Environment

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

Compensation & Benefits

Byline Bank offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.

The salary range for this position is between $61,000 to $76,000 + incentive.
