General Responsibilities
Responsible for performing administrative duties to support the credit analysis function; achieving goals as established in the assigned department's annual operating plan; coordinating work within the unit or department, as well as with other units or departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the credit analysis function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
Essential Duties
- Performs administrative duties to support the credit analysis function of which the following are illustrative:
- Receives and reviews data on prospective and active borrowers (i.e., financial statements, agency reports, and interview and investigation sheets) to assist the Bank in developing an assessment of credit risk.
- Reviews and analyzes borrower financial statements to determine and stress-test repayment capacity and cash flow strength; identify trends impacting the credit risk.
- Orders credit bureau reports, searches, flood, appraisals and title work requests.
- Works with commercial lenders, providing recommendations as appropriate for loan decisions, risk ratings, credit structure; prepares sufficient information to document recommendations and support credit underwriting.
- Provides thorough documentation of all financial analysis work, including ratios and other related information.
- Ensures that all credit analysis activities are conducted in accordance with prescribed lending policy.
- Maintains credit and collateral files.
- Ensures that all bank appraisals adhere to Interagency Conforming Appraisal Guidelines under FIRREA.
- Provides collateral (primarily residential real estate) valuations as needed in accordance with the Bank’s loan and appraisal policy.
- Support the appraisal management function by completing reviews of residential and commercial appraisals, corresponding with appraisers as needed
- Supports internal audit and federal and state examiners when on site for regulatory audit purposes. Obtains loan files and fulfills other information requests.
- Represents the bank at business loan settlements upon request of supervisors.
- Processes credit extensions, loan modifications, letter of credit changes, and other business loan documents.
- Able to make overdraft decisions and/or contact customers as needed to make line of credit transfers to cover overdrafts.
- Support post-closing record scanning and image capture.
- Achieves goals assigned to the Credit Analyst as part of the assigned department's annual plan.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other units and departments in order to insure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the Bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
- Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
- Maintain compliance with all regulations and bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and is an essential function of the job.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; specialized financial analysis training.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; moderate interpersonal relations and communicative skills; a thorough knowledge of current lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations, procedures, and operations; proficient ability to analyze and interpret financial statements; visual and auditory skills.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Credit Analyst normally required or three (3) years’ banking experience.
