Job summary

Jefferson Security Bank is seeking an experienced leader to oversee the credit analysis function and support the Chief Credit Officer in credit administration. You will supervise analysts, review underwriting, and ensure regulatory compliance across the lending portfolio.

The role requires a background in credit analysis, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage and train staff within a bank environment. A commitment to accuracy and risk management is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit administration, credit analysis, or direct lending with a financial institution.

Job description

Position is responsible for overseeing the credit analysis function within the bank as well as assisting the Chief Credit Officer in the development and monitoring of select aspects of credit administration. Oversight of credit analysis includes analyzing credit data and financial information of people and businesses that are applying for credit, as well as supervising and reviewing the work of other credit analysts. Credit administration assistance includes ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, monitoring both portfolio and transactional credit risk, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the administration and management of policies, standards, practices, and security measures for all department functions to ensure effective and consistent department operations.
  • Assist with planning the continual upgrading of equipment and procedures to maintain pace with technological progress, economic change, and business needs.
  • Perform standard supervisory administrative duties.
  • Exhibit a leadership presence by engaging analysis staff and setting clear expectations of the quality and quantity of performance.
  • Provide ongoing training and support for credit analysis staff.
Credit Underwriting and Analysis
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of credit proposals to Senior Management, Loan Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Complete presentations of credit proposals for more complex situations, or as needed to maintain workflow, for presentation to Senior Management, Loan Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist lenders in determining creditworthiness of applicants and terms under which credit will be granted.
  • Review the underwriting documentation for loans that are approved at the officer level to determine compliance with bank policy and management within Board approved risk parameters.
  • Supervise the centralized consumer underwriting and approval process.
Credit Administration
  • Perform and supervise all aspects of financial analysis as necessary, including management of the Bank’s credit analysts.
  • Perform and supervise all aspects of the annual credit review process.
  • Supervise the centralized collections and special assets process.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate review of loan risk grades.
  • Ensure timely notification, collection, and proper filing of annual customer financial information.
  • Prepare and review reports pertaining to lending activities for management and Board reporting.
  • Assist loan officers to support lending activities and goals.
  • Assist auditors, examiners, and other third‑party consultants in their review of the Bank’s operations or portfolio.
  • Work with lenders and department staff to identify, monitor, and resolve credit and documentation exceptions identified by all sources.
  • Stay informed of developing trends in the lending industry.
Other Responsibilities
  • Represent the Bank in a positive, courteous, friendly, and professional manner with internal and external clients, including participation in community events.
  • Any other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfillment of the Bank’s mission, and abide by the values of the Bank.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit administration, credit analysis, or direct lending with a financial institution.
  • Mortgage operations experience preferred.
  • Fluent in community bank loan operations, credit analysis, and regulations affecting all loan types.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with LaserPro Lending and Jack Henry core banking system preferred.
  • Experience with tax returns and financial statements and the ability to analyze financial statements and related documentation.
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong diplomacy in addition to courtesy and tact.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize, and to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate careful decision‑making skills.
  • Able to build and maintain trust‑based, collaborative relationships and influence others.
  • Knowledge of BSA and other relevant compliance regulations.
