Commercial Banking Company is seeking an experienced credit analysis professional to oversee the day‑to‑day management of its loan portfolio in Valdosta, GA. The role requires reviewing financial statements, credit reports, appraisals, and tax returns to assess risk and ensure portfolio quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This is a support role to the lending/credit function of the bank. It is a very analytical position, requiring review of both personal and corporate financial statements, credit reports, appraisals, tax returns, market information, and internal reports for the investigation and analysis of credit risks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight and administration of the Bank's loan portfolio.
  • Responsible for establishing internal loan controls and written policies and procedures for Board approval, thereby ensuring the quality of the loan portfolio.
  • Directly and indirectly monitor the lending portfolio to ensure that staff and lenders operate in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the bank policies and procedures as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain, update, and recommend changes to the Bank's loan policy as it pertains, but not limited to, underwriting criteria, loan authorities, structure requirements, pricing guidelines, collections, and charge-offs.
  • Calculate the Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss Reserve (ALLL) and making recommendations to executive management and the Board of Directors for monthly allocations.
  • Responsible for providing communication to department members regarding performance, including formal annual performance reviews for staff. Work with Chief Lending Officer to ensure the competency and accountability of lending staff.
  • Responsible for reporting to the President/CEO and ELC the asset quality of the loan portfolio, including delinquencies, non-accruals, OREO, loan concentrations, and profitability analysis.
  • Through Loan Review, evaluate the accuracy of risk ratings established by the lending officers. Interpret risk rating definitions and provide training to lending and credit personnel on risk ratings.
  • Periodically assess the quality of analytical analysis performed by the lenders.
  • Work with respective account officers, loan review, and compliance to ensure that new and existing loans are properly documented and lien positions are appropriately perfected.
  • Remain current with regulatory, accounting, or other changes that affect lending in all aspects.
  • Manage larger problem loans and manage and monitor workout activities.
  • Responsible, through the relationship manager, for collection and management of all collection efforts.
  • Responsible for Bankruptcy management, OREO management, foreclosures, and repossessions.
  • Responsible for coordinating for the examiners, all "credit related" examination data, document requests and information that is needed.
  • Participate in the management of the bank and assist in achieving long-term profitability, influencing asset quality and prudent long-term strategic direction.
  • Serve as a voting member of the Officer's Loan Committee (OLC). Participate in Executive Loan Committee.
  • Lead weekly credit committee meeting.
  • Manage loan review program for credit relationships $500,000 and greater.
  • Analyze new loan requests, including assessment of loan purpose, pricing, management skills, collateral, business financial statements, projections, personal financial statements, satisfactory repayment structure and stability, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Review existing loan relationships, including assessments found in new analysis, plus documentation review.
  • Present and collaborates with loan officers to help the bank arrive at good credit decisions.
  • Compose memorandums to update loan files.
  • Provide advice and assistance to loan officers as needed, which may include meeting with customers and the construction of commitment letters.
  • Review real estate appraisals for adherence to compliance issues and reasonableness.
  • Analyzes, prepares, and maintains internal reports, including reports to Board of Directors.

JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field (Accounting or Finance).
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis, commercial credit underwriting, and/or commercial lending preferred.
  • Knowledge of banking procedures and regulations.
  • Self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.
  • Maintains a neat, well-groomed professional appearance.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, communicates effectively, and has the ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good technical skills.
